Blog #2

In the book Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, he exposes the dark side of companies. Schlosser states that "Most of the nonunion workers are illegal immigrants; many are illegals; and they generally employed "at will." That means they can be fired without a cause or for just any reason. Such and arrangement does not encourage them to lodge complaints" (Schlosser 174). This quote is stating that many unionized workers were immigrants that have been employed just because they need the job and they would risk themselves getting hurt in the job. So for the fact that they're immigrants they will fire them if they have any complaint, that's why these union workers that are immigrants keep everything to themselves because they don't want to risk their job. I believe that this is a contradiction for the fact that most likely the head of the union might have persuaded them into joining the union, also making it seem as if likely they cared about them. In other words if the immigrants complain then they are at risk in getting fired. The fact that the head of the unions are even promising things that they know they wouldn't even do is unfair to me because their are workers that are willing to risk themselves.
